Summer Recap

Summer is more than halfway over!  What happened? When did early June suddenly become late July?  Have I made the most of my favorite season?

Some highlights:

Seven months and going strong with my running!! I run early before it is too hot and humid, and on some very rare mornings I’ve even had a cool breeze. It really is a great way to start the day with a sense of accomplishment.

Another goal was to join the YMCA; I did and now I Zumba a couple of times a week too.

I spent a week on the gulf coast and saw first hand the beginning effects of the oil spill. We watched as workers bagged oil in an effort to keep the beaches cleaned up. And we did our part to help the local economy hurt by a lack of tourists; each time we patronized a local business we were thanked by the business owners for not canceling our beach vacation.

This summer I also blogged about my friend Chef Kenny Gilbert who is competing on Bravo’s Top Chef. Hopefully, if you have watched you will see that more than having a big ego, Chef Kenny is talented, confident, and passionate about food. If you haven’t tuned in yet, I suggest you watch on Wednesday nights.

I told you about my daughter Allison who is working at Yellowstone for the summer. My Florida girl has fallen in love with that beautiful part of the country where she can hike in the mountains every day.

There is still more of summer to enjoy and more for me to accomplish. For me, symbolically summer will end in three short weeks when my daughter Leslie returns to college. How about you? What will you do with the rest of your summer?
